The Three-Jewel Refuge Ceremony in Hoc Mon

On February 22nd, 2021, Junior Thich Tam Hue, monks and Buddhists of Hoang Phap pagoda went to Mr Ho Van Duc's house to hold the refuge rite at the invitation of his family.

Mr Ho Van Duc, 78 years old, lives on Nguyen Van Bua Street, Hoc Mon. His wife, Mrs Lien Danh, 73 years old, is a volunteer at the Buddha recitation Board of Hoang Phap pagoda. When being young, he was busy doing business, raising children and being unable to avoid sins; Until the old and sick age, he has regretted because he has not yet taken refuge in the Three Jewels.

Receiving encouragement from family members, he has accepted to take refuge and repent to the sins he has caused from the past to present; he suddenly has understood the Three Jewels can save sentient beings overcome endless samsara towards deliverance, nirvana. He vowed to take refuge in the Buddha, Dharma, Sangha and live according to the Buddha's teachings.

Because of his old age, weakness and long distance, he could not go to Hoang Phap pagoda. His family has invited the monks to come home to hold the refuge rite. On behalf of the abbot of Hoang Phap pagoda, Junior Thich Tam Hue transmitted the commandments of Three refuge and Five precepts to this man. From now, this one will become a Buddha's disciple, the name of Tinh Duc, obeying the five precepts of lay Buddhists: no killing, no stealing, no adultery, no lying and drinking alcohol

Next, the delegation went to the house of Ms Nguyen Thi Ngoc Ly (Lien Hao), passed away on November 23rd, Year of Mouse, lived the age of 42 years old to hold the rite of 49 days and pray for her soul being born in a peaceful realm soon.

On Feb. 21st, 2021 (on Jan. 10th, LC), the group donated 300 kg of bean sprouts to Phuoc Hai Monastery (Phuoc Thai, Long Thanh, Dong Nai) and 200 kg of bean sprouts to Thien Hoa Nunnery (Phu My, Tan Thanh, Ba Ria, Vung Tau).
