2nd Three-Jewel Refuge Ceremony 2026
Update: 14/06/2026
Nearly 400 good men and believing women on June 14th, 2026 gathered in Hoang Phap pagoda's dharma hall to listen and learn about the proper demeanor of a Buddhist, such as clasp their hands, bowing, prostrating, walking in meditation and reciting the Buddha's name. Next, monks of Hoằng Pháp pagoda, Junior Thích Tâm Dược had a dharma talk named “8 Great Benefits of taking the Three Refuges-Five Precepts.” In the afternoon, Junior Abbot Thich Tam Truong preached the meaning of the repentance and received Three refuges - Five Precepts.
After a speech respectfully inviting the monks to perform the ritual, the ceremony transmitting Three Refuges- Five Precepts took place in a solemn atmosphere of the Sangha witness at 2:00 p.m. Then, Abbot of Hoang Phap Pagoda, Junior Thich Tam Truong explained the purpose of the repentance rite and great benefits of taking Three refuges - Five Precepts. Then, he emphasized when taking the Three Refuges and Five Precepts without truly understanding their meaning, we will understand and misapply them.
Returning to refuge in the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha in the Three-Jewel refuge ceremony, practitioners will be guided to the methods to escape the suffering and distress of this life. In there, the precepts are the foundation in the order leading to concentration and wisdom. Thanks to the receiving Three-Refuges and Five-Precepts, five ethical principles of a true Buddhist — refraining from killing, stealing, adultery, lying, and consuming alcohol or intoxicating substances — will help practitioners be more reserved and cautious in every thought, word, and action, leading to a life of joy and deliverance.
The ceremony concluded with the joy of the attendees. Before leaving the temple, all Buddhists received Certificates of Refuge and dharma book gifts from the Organizers.
