Activities in Sri Lanka the First Day

Venerable Thich Chan Tinh and the monks visited Sri Lanka, one of the Buddhist countries with nearly all the population follow Buddhism.
In the morning of May 1st, 2018 (March 16th, Lunar Calendar), people visited the Kelaniya temple, where the Buddha resided for the third-visit-Srilanka according to the Srilankan History, the place for devout Buddhist to visit, to chant, to pray for a happy life. The temple remarked with a solemn Buddha statue, a Bodhi tree, a marvelous stupa, some hand-paintings on the wall,… all show the Sri Lankan’s soul via the Sri Lankan specific Buddhist culture.
In the afternoon, Venerable Thich Chan Tinh gave a talk at Sri Suqatha Subaddramaya temple, in Gianemulla Galahitiyawa, Colombo. The Sri Suqatha Subaddramaya’s abbot and Bhikkhuni Tue Khong assist in translating, Ven. Thich Chan Tinh addressed to the local people a short Dharma giving containing four matters: learning, practicing, protecting and spreading Dharma. By this, the devout Buddhist pretty know their duty in preserving Buddhism in their homeland, for a longer existence of Buddhism, and all can receive the sweet taste from the Dharma and be happy in the Buddha’s teaching.
To finish, Venerable offered some presents to the Venerable abbot and the sangha members at the temple. By this occasion, Venerable sent some spiritual gifts to the Vietnamese monks and nuns are learning in Colombo, who came and joined as the Talk’s audiences.
