Commemorating Late Most Superior Venerable Thich Giac Nhien

We, Hoang Phap Monastery’s Monks and Buddhists deeply mourn the Most Superior Venerable Thich Giac Nhien’s death  who was:

·        A Dharma Successor – A disciple of progenitor Minh Dang Quang.

·        Former Director of the Institute Dharma practising of Vietnam Sangha Bhiksu Buddhist Association.

·        Former Head of Sangha Bhikshu Congregation IV

·        The founder of Minh Dang Quang Monastery, district 2 Hochiminh City

·        Member founding Vietnam Buddhist Congregation

·        Founder of International Sangha Bhikshu Buddhist Association.

·        President of Internatinal Sangha Bhikshu Buddhist Association.

Having natural death on 3rd August 2015 (lunar year 19th June, Goat year).

The Most Venerable set a good example in propagating the Dharma for the human’s sake. He embodied compassion and unconditional love which spread not only within Vietnam but also all over the world.

With the high merit of universal grace and salvation, the Most Venerable was a sound Dharma support. The Most Venerable‘s teaching was like mother’s milk which was nourishment and vitality that brought Buddhists up. The places He went through and the Buddha’s affairs He did that engraved the hallmark of happiness in Buddhists’ heart. Just as the ancient saying:

It’s whose effort that has produced cultivation
Which makes Dharma tree blossom all year round.

Those who have merit to meet and interact with Him certainly will not forget the image of a noble venerated religious man with his simple robes. He sacrificed all his life for maintaining and propagating Dharma. Using his skilful means of teaching, he went about teaching and converting sentient beings. He brought the light of love and wisdom to sooth the pain of so many souls who were overload with misfortune in this saha world.

Before 1975, the Most Venerable deligently came to Hoang Phap Monastery to teach Dharma to the Buddhists. After 1975, although he was quite busy with the Buddha’s affairs in the US, he still cared about Hoang Phap’s monks, nuns and Buddhists. Therefore, each time he came back to Vietnam, he always came to Hoang Phap Monastery to preach. His endeaviour,  encouragement for cultivation was simple but valuable. We would never forget the image of a pious religious man who devoted his whole life for Dharma and human’s sake. We would like to commit ourselves to practicing the Dharma and keeping moral disciplines in order to enlighten ourselves and preserve Buddhism.

Prostrating myself toward the Most Venerable with deepest respect. Though knowing that life is short-lived and impermanent, his passing left a big void in every Buddhist heart. From now on, we can’t meet and listen to the respected teacher’s preaching. There is no words that could be used to describe our loss. Now, repressing our grief, we- Hoang Phap Monastery’s Monks and Buddhists dedicate our lives to practice his teaching and follow his steps as it is said “attaining for enlightenment while assisting mankind”. We pray to him for shedding light on our way to enlightenment.

Respectfully prostrating toward the soul of the Most Superior Venerable Thich Giac Nhien.
