Buddhist News of Ven. Thich Chan Tinh
Dharma Preaching at Thien Lam Monastery, Colorado, United States
Update: 12/09/2016
In the evening Sep 10, 2016, the Venerable Thich Chan Tinh had a Dharma preaching at Thien Lam Monastery, Colorado, USA.
During the Dharma talk, the Venerable said that everyone has his/her own duty and responsibility in life to fulfill. Duty fulfillment means accomplishing all the assignments while doing things with responsibility means carrying out things with all of one’s heart; making others happy and peaceful. There are two kinds of Buddhist devotees: the renunciant and lay member. Lay-Buddhists bear the duties to family and society besides their Buddhism obligation. (S)he should not perform the unbalanced life focusing in religious activities while neglecting other secular roles, isolating him/herself to the society. It is also the meaning of slogan: “good for both religious and secular life†which helps practitioners avoid misunderstanding about his/her roles in life and live happily.
In the following Q&A session, Venerable Thich Chan Tinh cleared up all the concerns and queries of practicing from Buddhists.
At the end of the Dharma talk, participants received DVD film "Searching for the Enlightenment†published by Hoang Phap Pagoda as a Dharma gift from Venerable Thich Chan Tinh.
