Green tea could prevent deadly artery explosion, says study
Update: 29/08/2016
Recent research has pointed to a host of health benefits from drinking green tea, including the prevention of cancer, cardiovascular disease, inflammation and oxidation.
Here’s one more benefit of green tea you cannot ignore.\r\nDrinking green tea may prevent a deadly condition in which the body’s main\r\nartery becomes overstretched and bloated, a new study has claimed.

Researchers at Kyoto University in Japan found that\r\nabdominal aortic aneurysm developed less frequently in rats that drank green\r\ntea polyphenol, a major component of green tea.
\r\n\r\n
Without treatment, abdominal aortic aneurysms eventually\r\nrupture and lead to death, researchers said. “Abdominal aortic aneurysms often\r\ngo unnoticed because there are no symptoms until they burst,†said Kenji\r\nMinakata, author of the study.
\r\n\r\n
“If a patient is lucky and bloating is found before rupture,\r\nit needs to be treated surgically, such as by transplanting an artificial blood\r\nvessel or inserting a stent graft. At the moment there are no pharmacological\r\ntreatments,†said Minakata.

Recent research has pointed to a host of health benefits\r\nfrom drinking green tea, including the prevention of cancer, cardiovascular\r\ndisease, inflammation and oxidation. “The type of polyphenol found in green tea\r\nhas recently been shown to regenerate elastin, an essential protein that gives\r\nthe artery its stretchy texture,†said lead author Shuji Setozaki.

“Considering that abdominal arterial aneurysms are caused by\r\ninflammation and the degradation of elastin components in the arterial wall, we\r\nthought drinking green tea may show promise for treatment,†said Setozaki.
