Holding the Pravāranā Ceremony after Observing the Rain Retreat (Buddhist Era 2570 / 2026).

On the morning of August 22nd, 2026 (July 10th, Lunar Calendar), monks across four communes in the 18 Betel Garden Villages area—Hóc Môn, Bà Điểm, Đông Thạnh, and Xuân Thới Sơn—gathered at Quảng Thọ Pagoda (Bà Điểm Commune) to attend the Pravāranā ceremony.

In accordance with Buddhist tradition, the Pravāranā rite is a practice where a monk respectfully asks others to point out any faults they may have witnessed, heard about, or suspected during the three-month Rain Retreat. This is an important rule established by the Buddha to give Bhikkhus the opportunity to acknowledge their shortcomings and sincerely repent, thereby attaining purity. As a result, the Saṅgha remains harmonious and pure, serving as a merit field for donors and fostering the growth of Precepts, Concentration, and Wisdom in every Bhikkhu. Through this practice, the spirit of harmony and purity within the Sangha is preserved and strengthened. Following this ritual, each Bhikkhu adds one year to their monastic age.
