Mother Made Son Die by Superstition

“Taken away by the Godâ€
The event happened on the last New Year's Eve at a\r\n36 year-old woman's house. Her name is Huynh Lan Thao and her house is in\r\nBlock C - Su Van Hanh Flat, District 5, HCMC, at the time when the\r\nfamily was holding religious rituals.
The main character of the ritual was Huynh Son Vy, 15 years\r\nold, Thao's son who was called “a noviceâ€, who was the host of the\r\nceremony to prove the presence of the Divine. Vy used the rope to fasten\r\naround his neck and gave the rope ends to 4 people to pull from 2 opposite\r\nsides to prove the "Resurrectionâ€. However, after the ritual, Vy\r\ndied.
On 26th February, there porter came to Thao's\r\nhouse that looks like a small temple. Speaking to there porter, she\r\nstill affirmed that her son was taken away by "the God" and he didn't\r\ndie because of the rope strangle his neck. Her family is all devoted and\r\nbelieves in those Gods in “triple world†or “quadrel worldâ€. Vy is a\r\nhome practicer due to his “causal destinyâ€.
According to Mrs Thao, Vy was in depression after\r\nhis granddad passed away. He has mental signs and regularly wanders around\r\nhimself. He was cured in hospital but it didn't help. He was also taken\r\nto many temples to worship. “I've brought a lot of Gods statues home to\r\nworship hoping my son would be better. In a destined time, Vy had chosen by\r\n"the God" to enter his soul. Since then, I took his advice and\r\nrenovated my apartment as a temple for his practice. After being\r\nchosen for the God to enter his soul, Vy's illness was being little and\r\nlittle recoveredâ€, she said.
“The ritual to prove the God's presence\r\nwas performed many times called “killing\r\nrootâ€. At that moment, "the God" in Vy's body wrapped\r\nthe rope around his neck and indicated each people to pull while I struck\r\nthe wooden bell and chanted. In previous rituals, "the God" was\r\npulled down on on the floor and “self-resurrected",\r\nwhich proved others see that the God would never die. But this time,\r\nthe God took him away - said Thao.
The reporter asked her if she took her son\r\nto hospital. She answered that her son was taken away by the God and the\r\nhospital wouldn't be able to help him. "The God" said we shouldn't\r\ntouch his body and I could only pray.
Criminal Liability for Murder
Talking to the reporter from Tien Phong,\r\nLawyer Le Quang Vu - Deputy Head Office of Nguoi Ngheo\r\nHCMC commented the ritual “killing rootâ€, Mrs Huynh Lan Thao\r\nconducted 4 other people to strangle Vy to dead. That is considered the murder,\r\naccording to Article 93 of Criminal Code. Vy's grandmother will be continuously\r\ninvestigated to see her role in this case and she will be condemned properly.\r\n“Although they didn't intentionally kill Vy but by their action, they should\r\nknow the consequence that can lead to the dead and even the dead was\r\nunintended, they still have to be liable for the murderâ€- Lawyer Vu said and\r\nalso according to him, killing people with superstitious motivation can only be\r\nthe extenuating circumstances due to obsolete.
