Buddhist News of Ven. Thich Chan Tinh
One Day Retreat at Phuoc Duc Monastery, Texas - United States
Update: 18/09/2016
On Sep 17, 2016, the Venerable Thich Chan Tinh and the monks from Hoang Phap Pagoda held a One-Day Retreat at Phuoc Duc monastery, Texas, United States, whose abbot is monk Thich Tri Hien.
In the morning, the Venerable Thich Chan Tinh reviewed Buddhism fundamentals as Triratna Refuge, Five Precepts and guided the Buddhist etiquette to the mass. Besides, he also shared practical experience in the practice, and encouraged Buddhists diligently listening to Dharma talks as well as cultivating the Buddha path.
The Venerable also praised the abbot of his strong will turning the Dharma wheel in such young age. Besides managing the monastery, the abbot also takes care of the Hai Duc Pagoda in central Texas. In whatever ashrams, he always fulfills his mission leading Buddhists practicing the true dharma, holding weekly retreats. Particularly, he also holds the long-term retreat for Buddhists who devote their time staying and practicing at the Pagoda in several days. This is a difficult task in US due to its hurry rhythm in work and lifestyle. Arranging time for the retreat and practice is a hard choice that only the sincere practitioners can do.
In the afternoon session, the monks guided the Buddhists how to perform walking recitation (i.e. recite Buddha Amitabha‘s name while walking). After the rehearsal, the mass started the practicing.
At the end of the retreat, the Venerable Thich Chan Tinh sent his thanks and regards to the abbot for his kind facilitation to the delegation’s Dharma preaching in Texas. He also sent his blessings to the mass and wished them all the best in their lives and practicing.
