Repentance Ceremony (Aug. 14th, Year of the Horse) | Hoang Phap Pagoda
Update: 25/09/2026
A large number of Buddhists gathered at Hoang Phap Pagoda for a repentance ceremony at 18:00 on Sep. 24th, 2026. On behalf of the Sangha, Junior Thich Tam An delivered a Dharma talk titled "Hoang Phap Pure Land" prior to the ritual.
Without preaching on profound doctrines, the monk quietly planted the ideal of Pure Land practice in the listeners' minds. He reminded practitioners to cherish the rare blessing of a human rebirth, a favorable environment, and fully intact sense faculties—wholesome roots and merits that support the transformation of body, speech, and mind.
Emphasizing the vital role of firm determination and a steadfast Bodhicitta, he urged Pure Land practitioners to remain diligent in their cultivation. This is in accordancewith the encouragement from Most Venerable Thich Chan Tinh in his poem Reciting the Buddha's Name to Transform Karma:
Constantly mindful of Amitābha Buddha,
The mind harbors no wicked thoughts,
The mouth speaks no deceitful words,
The body refrains from evil deeds.
Always maintaining mindful awareness,
Across all four postures—
Walking, standing, sitting, or lying down—
The six sacred syllables remain in mind,
Transforming three negative karmas
Into three pure karmas.
The repentance ceremony closed in the participants’ joy.
