Repentance Ceremony (Aug. 29th, Year of the Horse) | Hoang Phap Pagoda.
Update: 09/10/2026
At 18:00 on Oct. 9th, 2026, numerous Buddhists gathered at Hoang Phap Pagoda for a Repentance Ceremony. Prior to the ritual, Junior Ven. Thich Tam Chat delivered a Dharma talk titled "Who is the Most Pitiable Person?"
His reflective question invited the audience to turn inward and discover the answer within themselves.
He emphasized that the most pitiable person is not one merely enduring hardship, but one who suffers unaware—often because they are so consumed by family and societal duties that they lose sight of their life's ideals and intrinsic value.
The Venerable urged practitioners to live responsibly, cherish themselves, and become their own steadfast refuge through Precepts, Concentration, and Wisdom. This embodies the World-Honored One’s teaching in the Saṃyutta Nikāya: "Dwell with yourselves as your own island, with yourselves as your own refuge, with no other refuge; dwell with the Dhamma as your island, with the Dhamma as your refuge, with no other refuge."
The repentance ceremony closed in the participants’ joy.
