Repentance Ceremony (July 29th, Year of the Horse) | Hoang Phap Pagoda.
Update: 13/09/2026
A large number of Buddhists attended the regular repentance ceremony, which coincided with the Birthday of Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha. At exactly 6:00 p.m. on September 10, 2026, Junior Ven. Thich Tam Vuong—a monk from Hoang Phap Pagoda and Abbot of Tay Phap Pagoda—delivered a Dharma talk titled "What Remains After the Ullambana Ceremony?"
Drawing upon the verses of the Ullambana Sutra—a text recited by Buddhists during the Ullambana season—the Venerable expounded on the meaning of each verse. Going beyond mere recitation, he illuminated the profound teachings of the World-Honored One while highlighting the exemplary filial piety of Maudgalyayana. The Venerable encouraged Buddhists to cultivate filial piety every day—not just during the Ullambana month—through an ethical lifestyle, attentive listening, empathy, and the expression of gratitude via concrete actions. Within this context, the noblest form of filial piety in Buddhism is guiding their parents to take refuge in the Triple Gem and observe the Five Precepts, thereby attaining peace and stability in life.
The repentance ceremony concluded in the participants' joy.
