Repentance ceremony on April 14th, Year of the Horse

Before the ceremony, one of the monks of Hoang Phap pagoda, Junior Thich Tam Thuc, gave a Dharma talk to all attendees.
As practitioners, our minds sometimes experience joy and peace, but these moments are difficult to sustain, and then unease returns. Therefore, the sacred moment of stillness during the Buddha's birthday celebration is a wonderful opportunity for Buddhists to reflect on the life story of Shakyamuni Buddha. The monk emphasized the essential point is for each Buddhist to contemplate what makes us always remember, be grateful for, cherish, and remember when thinking about the Buddha and the Dharma after a long journey of diligent practice. Buddhists practice not only to be proud of the great Buddha and the great Dharma, but the practice of the Dharma by observing precepts, cultivating compassion, loving others, and empathizing with the suffering of others is the noblest achievement of a Buddhist practitioner. Because the compassionate mind of each person already encompasses precepts, concentration, and wisdom, including listening, contemplation, and practice.
At the end of the preaching, the monk wished the Buddhists and their families a peaceful and meaningful Vesak season; and encouraged practitioners to use compassion and wisdom as their spiritual tools on the path of following in the Buddha footsteps.
Last, the pagoda prepared cups of sweet soup to offer to the attendees. The repentance ceremony closed in the participants’ joy.
