Repentance ceremony on January 14th, year of the Horse

The regular repentance ceremony and Dharma talk at Hoang Phap Pagoda was attended by a large number of male and female Buddhists, devotees on March 2nd, 2026 (January 14th, LC) after the Lunar New Year.

The Deputy Abbot of Hoang Phap Pagoda, Junior Thich Tam Trinh gave a Dharma talk titled "Reflections at the Beginning of Spring" to the Buddhists before the repentance. He shared his journey of over 13 years of monastic life and service, and the beginning of his upcoming journey of "propagating the Dharma" at Quang Phap Pagoda, Tay Ninh province (a branch of Hoang Phap Pagoda). He confided this year's horse symbolizes diligence, wisdom, courage, and the ability to overcome danger. Similarly, a monk must be diligent, courageous, possess right views and boundless compassion to overcome obstacles, have a vast heart to endure suffering and transform afflictions for sentient beings on the journey of "seeking Buddhahood above, saving sentient beings below."

 

Following the Dharma talk at 7 p.m., the mass began the repentance rite, paying their homage to the majestic Buddha statue, and reciting the Buddhas’ famous names. The solemn atmosphere helped to awaken faith in the Three Jewels in each person, allowing them to experience true peace in their body and mind.

 

The repentance ritual as usual was successfully completed to the joy of all attendees.
