THE 20TH LOTUS SEED SOWING RETREAT

Commemorating the Buddha Shakyamuni's enlightenment on the 8th day of lunar December, Dong Cao pagoda in Thanh Hoa province organized the 20th Lotus seed Sowing Retreat for all children from 6-13 years old everywhere to attend on Sunday of Jan. 18th, 2026.

 After the registration in the morning, Ms. Lien Thanh and members in the Youth Club started the day with games and singing for the children in the lecture hall, and studied demeanor when coming to the temple in the main hall. Next, the children returned to the living room to ask about the Abbot’s health and receive gifts from him.

 

Then, Buddhist Thiện Minh led little learners to release creatures which express their love to sentient beings.

 Continuing the program, Buddhist Lien Thanh gave a sharing session titled "New year, I am a new version, too" to impart knowledge about the meaning of traditional Tet (Lunar New Year) to the children.

 

 At noon, the monks, the Club and kids had a lunch in mindfulness.

 

After taking a nap, children started the time to sit quietly, read the poem of Gratitude guided and listened to dharma words by the Abbot in the afternoon.

 

The program "Extracurricular Activities in the early days of the New Year: Learning About Traditional Tet" took place at 2:30 PM organized by Buddhist Lien Hien and the Club's members.

 

All of the kids sat down together, had sweets with the monks and received a school bag before they left the temple.
