The Great Ullambana Ceremony at Tieu Dao pagoda, Quang Ninh

The tradition of gratitude and repayment in the Ullambana Ceremony is the deep harmony with the national moral tradition. In that noble spirit, on the morning of August 7, 2022, Tieu Dao Pagoda in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh province (belong to Hoang Phap pagoda’s school) solemnly held the Great Ullambana Ceremony, Buddhist calendar 2566 - Solar calendar 2022.
Attending the ceremony were Junior Thich Tam Tinh, Member of the Director Board of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Quang Ninh province, Abbot of Tieu Dao Pagoda and monks and nuns of the pagodas inside and outside area demonstrated and attended the ceremony.
The first, it was offering Six items by the group of Buddhist Youth at Tieu Dao Pagoda. Next, it is the reading "The Meaning of Pinning Roses" presented by Buddhist Phuong Loan. Finally, the section giving robe was to offer clothes to monks and nuns.
On behalf of the Sangha, Junior Thich Tam Tinh represented to have a speech "The Meaning of Ullambana Day. He preached the meaning of the ritual of rose flower pinning and the legend that Bodhisattva Maudgalyayana saved his mother from the life of a hungry ghost. This festival helps commemorate our parents, ancestors, and those who had merit with the country.
At the same time, this is an opportunity to help us approach the Buddhist culture of "kindness, compassion, joy, equanimity", "non ego, unselfishness", "drinking water, remembering its source". Filial piety is the way of ethical people. Regardless of any religions, everyone must take filial piety as the root.
After the robe offering part, the mass began the ritual of Ullambana repentance to pray for deceased parents to be born in a peaceful realm, and present parents will increase in longevity and blessings. May all sentient beings all over the world fully attain Buddhahood.
