Buddhist News of Ven. Thich Chan Tinh
The Second Day at the Retreat of Vietnamese Buddhists in San Jose - United States
Update: 25/10/2016
On Oct 23, 2016, the mass continued the second day, also the last day of the Retreat, at YB High School, San Jose, United States.
In the morning session, the mass chanted the Amitabha sutra before the Dharma talk with the topic: “Self-Mediation†shared by the Monk Thich Tam Nguyen.
In the afternoon, the Venerable Thich Chan Tinh honored Amitabha Buddha with floral candle-light ceremony. After that, he reviewed the meaning of taking refuge in Triratna, fundamentals of Buddhism as well as basic duties of the Buddhist. After Buddha’s parinirvÄṇa, monks are the ones renouncing the secular life to search for the Path of liberation and turn the Dharma wheel. However, we should be noticed that they are the Buddha-to-be with more or less mistakes, wrong deeds due to secular affairs which are a far from their original ideal. We, the practitioners with right-view, should not lose our belief and precious, spiritual path to liberation due to such phenomenon. The Buddhists take the Buddha’s example to follow and practice instead of those wrong doers’.
Ending the Retreat, the Venerable Thich Chan Tinh expressed his gratitude to Buddhists An Hanh and An Nguyet for all they did to support the delegation fulfilling its trip in US. He also sent his blessings to all the Vietnamese expatriates. May they and their families have all the best in lives and promotion in practice.
