The Triratna Commitment Ceremony at Phu Phap Pagoda – Kien Giang Province

In November 2nd, 2017 (September 14th, Horse Year), Abbot Thich Chan Tinh committed himself into Triratna and taught the five precepts to Buddhists at Phu Phap Pagoda, Cuu Duong Commune, Phu Quoc District, Kien Giang Province.
The first step to become a Buddist is taking Triratna, because Triratna is the three most previous ones in this world. People can rely on husbands or wives, children or assets,… but these are not steady. Families or assets can leave us whenever it is, or in another saying, we can only rely on them or our assets until our death. But, relying on three previous ones is a step back to the truth, the good and the beauty. This step also bring peaceful to us in this world, no matter which life we are living in.
At 7:00PM, the ceremony began with incensing reading the Sutras to Buddha. The Abbots took turn teaching about the five commandments for Buddhists. After that, Abbot Thich Chan Tinh had some words to the Buddhists, he preaching about the duties of the Buddhists to The Three Previous Ones. Because the ceremony is very important for those who wants to become a Buddhist and because there were only a few chances to meet wise men. Everyone listened to the Abbot carefully. Next, all the Buddhists knelt down and held their hands, looked above to The Three Previous Ones and wished to the Buddha, the Dharma, the Sangha. The Buddhists also received Five Commandments from the Abbot.
At the ending of the ceremony, each received a certificate and gifts including: a brief story about The Buddha, Triratna and Five Commandments and a VCD of the Triratna-taking ceremony .
