Ullambana Ceremony at Cambodia Hoang Phap Pagoda

Lunar July 16th in Dog Year), Monks and Buddhist from Hoang Phap Viet Nam traveled to Hoang Phap in Cambodia Kingdom to participate in Ullambana Ceremony.
he Ceremony began at 9:00 a.m. on the witness of Monks and Nuns from Vietnam and Cambodia, as well as the presence of over 800 Buddhists from these two countries.
After chanting Sutras, it was a speech announcing the reason of the Ceremony and introduce what-is-on the day and who-is-being at the party. Senior Ven. Thich Tam Truc- Abbot of Cambodia Hoang Phap gave the opening speech. The following was a presentation of Buddhist from Cambodia Hoang Phap on a ritual called rose-attaching. Then came to the confession moment which was the period for all to deep-down their minds, think of their mistakes done to parents. Next, two teenaged Buddhists, who represented the mass, respectfully offered clothes to the Monks.
In the Ceremony, Junior Ven. Thich Tu An Lac- Chief of Maha Buddhist organization in Cambodian Kingdom- sent compliment on all Buddhists’ filial piety and promised to receive the offerings. Junior Venerable also had some advise words for participants, he advised that we all the lucky-man, that’s why we have to chance to be here at this Ullambana Ceremony, to understand the merit of parents’ teaching and bringing up, then makes us try to be filial to send our gratitude to parents. In addition, we should create kindness, not only in the occasion of Ullambana but at any time in life to transfer that kindness to parents, which will help them to receive afterlife happiness. Ending the speech, Junior Venerable wished all Buddhists a memorable Ullambana Ceremony fulfilling of filial piety. During the party, there were some performances done by Cambodian and Vietnamese artists. The final part in the Ceremony was a Ullambana sutras-chanting course for the mass to send their deep gratitude to their parents.
