Participants of the witness are: Venerable Thich Tam Hieu, head of the Can Mon Pagoda - An Phap, head of the organizing committee, and monks of Hoang Phap Pagoda in Ho Chi Minh City and religious Venerables in Nghe An province.
On behalf of the government, there was the participation of Mr. Nguyen Dinh Te, head of civil committees of Hoang Mai Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Ba Hao, Chairman of Fatherland Front Committee of Hoang Mai town; Mr. Hoang Danh Tan, Chief of Internal Affairs, Hoang Mai Township; Mr. Dang Van Tan, deputy head of police of Hoang Mai town and local authorities, was also present at the ceremony.
At the ceremony, Venerable Thich Tam Hieu had a few messages about Ulambana. Following custom, the day was a praying for death souls, or rebirth ancestor and prayers for parents passed away. Most of these days, people go to the pagoda to register for praying is often more than to register for safety.
However, the ceremony prays for the died parents just little that it appreciates highly parents' merit in the Ullambana season even if the parent is alive or dead. Because of the Buddha's teachings, "Parents' merit likes an ocean or sky; meeting the time without the Buddha and without the sage, serving his/her parents like serving the Buddha and the sages." A lay man buddhist is a child of virtue, and we need to have a good attitude, a happy life, a spiritual path, a virtuous teacher, a virtuous life, and help poverty and disease, rescue the animals are going to be killed, ... In addition, each person needs real cultivation, encouraging parents and all beings know the direction of three Jewels. It is all actions derived from loving kindness that it can changes the present state and create more joy for the parents. On the day of Ullambana, we should encourage everyone to do the same.
In the afternoon of the same day, Venerable abbot transferred the Three Jewels' refuge and five-precepts for nearly 150 good men and women on the occasion of Vu Lan ceremony.
