Red jasmine Flower is grown commonly in Vietnam. Scientists recommend that its resin is poisonous. It can cause blood pulsing of skin, even be poisoned.

Red jasmine tree has the scientific name as\r\nPlumeria rubra acutifolia (Poir.) Bailey, belong to oleander group\r\n(Apocynaceae). It has small wood tree , 8 m– 12m natural\r\nheight. The flower is white at outside, light yellow or red central,\r\nfragrant scent.


 

Resin of Red jasmine tree is very poisonous 

In Vietnam, Red jasmine tree is grown for\r\nornament, shade. It is common at one’s home garden, temples, pagodas, school\r\nyard. In traditional medicine, people use Red jasmine flower to treat\r\ncardiovascular disease, blood pressure.

 According to the warning on Allthingsfrangipani web\r\npage, resin of Red jasmine tree and its relative tree, oleander,\r\ncontain poison. Cutting any parts of the tree is\r\nforbid, including flower and leaf. Especially, children shouldn’t get\r\nin touch with it. If resin sticks in hands, it can cause blood\r\npulsing of skin. It is harmful to humans and animals.

In some case, drug that is made from Red jasmine flower in high\r\ndose can cause poison to people.
