A Ceremony Lighting Flower Lanterns to Celebrate the Birthday of Amitabha Buddha at Phuoc Thien Pagoda

On Dec. 23rd, 2020 (lunar 10th Nov. Year of rat), accepting the invitation of Abbess Thich Nu Chuc Hai, abbot of Phuoc Thien pagoda, Binh Chanh village, BinhChanh district, Ho Chi Minh city, the monks and Buddhists of Hoang Phap pagoda came and supported for the organization of a ceremony lighting flower lanterns to celebrate birthday of Amitabha Buddha.
As usual, on the 10th day of November lunar calendar every year, Phuoc Thien pagoda will organize the Candle-Light Ceremony for the Birthday of Amitabha, the Buddha of immeasurable generosity and compassion to sentient beings, it was the reason for all Buddhists returning to attend the rite.
The ceremony officially started with prajnaa drumming ritual to welcome the clergy guests of honour and participants
After announcing the reason and introducing the participants, it was the opening speech. Next, all of the participants unanimously turned towards the solemn statue of Amitabha Buddha to offer incense and pay homage to the Triratna. The program continued with the light transmission rite. This is the most important part of the ceremony. The candle of wisdom and compassion was lit up by the Venerables from the Buddha's altar and gradually transmitted to the Buddhists. This is the symbol of the continual transmission of light, wisdom, love, faith and hope.
At the ceremony, it was the sound of verses together with the prayers to the Buddha and of the 48 Great Vows making the ceremony more solemn and formal.
At the end of the ceremony, the mass listened to the preaching of the Lecturer.
The night Lighting Flower Lanterns ended in happiness for all participants.
