‘Awakening mistakes’ at the fetal requiem ceremony - Hoa Phuc Pagoda

Human body is difficult to be formed,

Why did Mum discard me?

Destroying me without feeling pitiful,

Let maggots and bugs eating mine!

From many lives of practices,

I’m existing the human shape. Mum!

The ceremony was held in the traditional Buddhist Ceremony under the witness and celebration of Venerable Thich Tam Hoa, abbot of Phuc Hoa Pogoda. After the incense, making altar and taking refuge for the fetus, the Venerable Dai Duc has guided parents and relatives of the fetus to repent, recite the Buddha for the fetus.

In order to bring more benefit to everyone, Venerable Thich Tam Hoa had a few words for Buddha who attended. The Venerable expressed sympathy to Buddhists who had made mistakes but now they took refuge in the Buddha, did good to pray for the fetus. He shared that the requiem ceremony could not clear up obstructing conditions between fetus and their parents

The altar set up by Buddists could not make the spirits free from bondage. This ceremony was held thanks to the power of the Buddhists that support the fetus to be enlightened, to let go of hatred, listen the Sutras that can help them early salvation.

But the most important thing for fetuses to be salvaged is that fathers, mothers and relatives of the fetuses need to practice righteousness, do good deeds and turn towards to the fetus. Only blessings and sincerity and deep love in the hearts’ parents and relatives that can help the fetus let go of anger, sadness, soon turn to the Amitabha Buddha.

Parents also rely on Buddhism to forget the fetus’s torment whose heart gradually transformed into a peaceful place. That is one of the reasons that the Pagoda asked parents of fetal children to buy real items for fetal ceremony such as clothes, milk bottles. When the ceremony ended, the temple brought the items to charity, and will help difficult lives from the direction of merit for the fetus.

The ceremony ended completely when the temple transmitted a message of indirect life that made the figures on the abortion rate in our country that has no longer increased as scarily as today.
