Buddhist Wedding Ceremony at Tay Khanh Pagoda – Thai Binh Province

On May 28th, 2016 (April 22nd lunar calendar), the couple bride & groom, including Mr. Do Dang Tung (Buddhist Name Tinh Tung) and Le Thi My Hanh (Buddhist name Lien Hanh) has celebrated the Buddhist wedding ceremony at Tay Khanh Pagoda , Cao Mai village, Quang Hung commune, Kien Xuong district, Thai Binh province in the presence and blessing of monks.
Buddhist wedding ceremony is a beauty in Buddhist culture. Though it just initiated in recent years, this trend has received enthusiastic response from Buddhist families.
Under Sakyamuni Buddha statue image with Triratna witnesses, the young couple vowed to live a faithful and ever happy marriage life, aligned to Buddha’s teachings.
This memory will remain long in the couple’s hearts, encourage them to overcome their faults, perform tolerance and respect to each other. It is a beauty not only in Buddhist culture but also in Buddhist marriage.
After the preamble part, the young couple together walked into the hall in warm applause of families, distinguished guests, dear friends and Buddhists.
Next, the representer of the two families appealed for approval of the marriage. The monks offered incense to Buddha to pray for the couple’s happiness and granted them Trisatna’s blessings. In the solemn air, wedding rites were carried out. The couple bowed to pay homage to Buddha, grateful thanks to parents and respect to each-other.
In order to enhance the meaning of putting on wedding ring ritual, on behalf of the present monks, Venerable Thich Tam Hoa, Hoa Phuc Pagoda’s abbot, Hanoi, has explained the meanings of wedding ring. Then the bride and groom exchanged wedding rings in the presence of the Monks.
Venerable Thich Tam Quan, Dien Quang Pagoda’s abbot, Bac Ninh province has praised the sense of marriage importance from families celebrating Buddhism wedding with the witness of Triratna. Next, the Venerable has given a lecturing of how to build a sustained happy family, in which each member would love, respect, harmonize with, listen to each other, and be tolerant. In addition, the Venerable also reminded the young couple to have proper preparation for parenthood.
The key to blissful life is that each Buddhist in the family should learn Dharma, live well towards the upper levels, believe in cause - effect rule. Taking Trisatna refuge and complying with lay people’s five precepts, which represent human morality, would bring them ever-happiness, within this life and in the after-lives.
Then, Buddhist marriage certificate, flowers and gifts were granted to the young couple.
There are also the participation of singers with joyful songs wishing the ever- happiness to the bride and groom.
