Ceremony Taking Triratna Refuge at Dong Cao Pagoda – Thanh Hoa Province

On June 03rd, 2017 (Lunar May 09th, Rooster Year), Senior Venerable Thich Chan Tinh visited Dong Cao pagoda, Nga Yen Commune, Nga Son District, Thanh Hoa Province to organize Triratna Refuge Ceremonies for Buddhists here, according to invitation of Junior Venerable Thich Tam Hung.
In the morning, Buddhists gathered at the hall to listen Junior Venerable Thich Tam Kinh, abbot of Tay Khanh Pagoda - Thai Binh Province explains some basicdoctrines about Taking Triratna Refuge, the meaning of Three Refuges and five Precepts, all related concepts of Repentance, Buddhist name, upasaka, upasika, etc.
In the afternoon of the same day, Venerable Thich Chan Tinh, the abbot of Hoang Phap pagoda and the monks officially transferredThree Refuges and Five Precepts in the solemn and purity atmosphere of Bodhi-mandala with the true and reliable receiving from disciples. After the incense rituals of Buddha recitation, the Senior Venerable proceeded the repentant manners, transmitted the Three Refuges and Five Precepts. Also in ceremony, the Senior Venerable had some words to praise the desirous spirit of cultivating and studying from disciples and stimulated the beginners who recently joined the religion.
The Venerable Master clarified the meaning and benefits of taking refuge and observing the precepts. In addition, he especially reminded the Buddhists that after taking refuge in the Three Jewels, they should go to the monastery, at least once a month in Buddhist recitation. If the Buddhists live in the provinces where far from the city, they should go to the pagoda to attend the major holidays in the year as the Buddha's Birthday, the Ullambana Festival, Flower Festival to celebrate the Amita Buddha day, etc. At the same time, depending on the family condition, each should set up Buddha altars at home for worship and prostration.
The ceremony ended in their joyfulness.
