Update: 03/01/2018
This morning Jan 03, 2018 (Nov 17, lunar calendar) Venerable Thich Tam An, Abbot of Hung Phap pagoda in Dong Nai province delivers a Dhamma talk to practitioners of 87th Seven-Day Retreat on the topic " De Long Thanh Than ".
It is a myth thinking that Buddhism is a pessimistic religion and monks are lovelorn or disoriented ones.... In fact, Buddhism is the religion of wisdom. Buddhism learners know the impermanent nature of this world with birth-death cycle. Buddhists are positive and strong people coping with things in life with calm regardless it is good, bad or challenging. In the same circumstance, Buddhist learners always have positive attitude and can find the way to overcome with easeful mind while others may feel misery, insecurity, or even depression/pessimism in mind that can lead to negative reactions.
Science demonstrates that the body of optimistic people will produce hormones that are good to health. In contrast, body of pessimist, depressed person will produce bad hormones causing some cardiovascular diseases.
In order to live in peace, Buddha offers us following tips:
1) Optimism
2) Tolerance
3) Honest
4) Gratitude
5) Things are impermanence
After more than an hour of sharing, the Venerable has offered the mass skillful behaviors as keeping calm in circumstances, having optimistic attitude and positive way of life.
