Update: 01/01/2018
Today Jan 01, 2018 (Nov 15, lunar calendar), based on the invitation from retreat organizer, Most Venerable Thich Giac Toan, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, Vice-chancellor of education department of Vietnam Buddhist Academy, Deputy Head of Vietnam Buddhist Academy in Ho Chi Minh City, Deputy Editor of Giac Ngo Newspaper, Abbot of Minh Dang Quang Monastery, has a Dhamma talk at Hoang Phap ashram on the topic" Niem Phat Tu Hien".
During the lecturing, he pointed out issues as following:
- Things in this world are impermanence. Life is more likely a dream.
- Time passes by in just a blink of eye hence it is necessary for us to practice in every moment when walking, standing, lying and sitting.
- People should come back to the insight of mind, shy away from evils/wrong doings.
- Practitioners should purify the trio body- speech-mind to prevent the arising of affliction.
- We should always try our best to practice in whatever mood instead of coming to pagoda to refuge in crisis (sufferings or failure) and going away when life is good/lucky.
- Since immeasurable kalpas, due to ignorance, we have sown many bad deeds as killing, harming or creating hard feelings to others. After recognizing mistakes we have done in the past, we should try our best to cease all evils, diligently practice and generate merits to dedicate to the ones we had harmed in order to remove all conflicts/hard feelings with them. We should cultivate four immeasurables in mind with loving kindness, compassion, bliss, equanimity and avoid blaming.
- We should control our speech to avoid bad karmas as using rude words or using words to trigger conflicts.
- We should be awakened to recognize and control arising trio poison greed - hatred - delusion
After the talk, the Most Venerable offers the mass proper practicing methods, helps them keep close control to sources of karma: body, speech and thoughts to promote on the way to Enlightenment.
