This morning Dec 30, 2017 (Nov 11, lunar calendar) Venerable Thich Tam Dai, Abbot of Lam Phap Pagoda, Lam Dong province, has delivered the Dhamma talk to participants on the subject "Ultimate Aspiration".
It is necessary for Buddhism practitioners, especially the Pure Land ones, to have compounded conditions as environment, proper practicing conditions, Dhamma listening, Dhamma preservation, morality…, to calm down, purify the mind and practice. Lacking of proper methods, it is very easy for them to be sunk in laziness and idleness during cultivation. With such deeds, at the moment of death, it is hard for them to reincarnate in good realms.
In Pure-land School, to get high level of concentration, practitioners need awakening: ears get the meaning clearly when chanting Buddha name out loud, heart gets meaning clearly when chanting Buddha name in mind. Practitioner is not afraid of arising thoughts during meditation, but the slow Achievement. When chanting Buddha name with strong Bodhi mind, we can get purity in mind. It is the shortest way to get concentration that leads us to Enlightenment.
Practitioners also have to reflect upon impermanence to be diligent in cultivation, promoting wisdom as per a quote of Senior Venerable Thich Chan Tinh: "Ignorant ones take care of this life while wise ones take care of both this life and after-lives"
Last but not least, the integral factor of every chanting course is sending pure compassion to all sentient beings without any discrimination. May all have bliss in mind and get liberation soon.
In more than an hour of sharing, the Venerable has offered audience the right practicing method to have peace in present and future.
