On the seventh day of the 102nd Retreat of May 04th, 2024, Senior Thich Phap Dang, Head of Director Board of Thong Nhat district’s Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Abbot of Hue Vien pagoda (Dongnai), came to the Retreat and preached a dharma talk named Buddha's name reciting being the way back to the tranquility to the mass.
Practicing Buddha's name, practitioners need to clearly understand the dharma they are practicing. When understanding exactly, we can cultivate correctly and achieve desired results. Then, the Venerable pointed out teachings of Ven. monks, and Patriarchs who have attained enlightenment in this method.
Peace does not mean avoiding when encountering obstacles, we are ready to face and accept them, mindfully reciting Buddha's name, thanks to which we have true peace.
- Reciting Buddha's name at home, practitioners must fulfill their duties to family, society, and country, not giving up all conditions just to sit and recite Buddha's name to pray for rebirth.
- This is an easy method to cultivate and practice, so no matter how busy we are at work, we try not to forget the Buddha's name. When keeping the Buddha's name, the mind is always awake, the practitioner will reduce afflictions, greed, and anger.
Remembering and reciting Buddha's name in the mind, we will definitely see Buddha at present or in the future, not far from Buddha. Keeping our mind in memory of Buddha will prevent our mind from having evil thoughts, or if they arise, our mind will feel ashamed and evil deeds cannot be accomplished.
When reciting Buddha's name, it means Buddha is present in our mind, helping us let go of afflictions. Practitioners practice until the mind of reciting the Buddha's name is mature. At the time of life and death are near, our mind will always be at peace, clearly knowing the destination.
The Venerable helped all attendees understand the dharma they were practicing, and be diligent and steady on the path to finding peaceful enlightenment from his preaching.
