“The gratitude of parent and teacher
Keep in your mind for later repay”
The Buddha preached so many doctrines for breaking our defilements and being free from the samsara but he also praises the pious spirit of the Buddhists. Before getting saint one should fulfill his piety to parent, follow the virtuous teaching. Telling some stories from the sutras and classic references, he mentions about the important of well-performing filial duty to parent as a Buddhist. First, take good care of your parent and support material things to them then learn Dharma to drive them to the happy way of practice by avoiding from doing unwholesome deeds and developing wholesome deeds.
Everyone should perform their duty to parent but the Buddhists should do it first when Buddhism is the religion of morality. Parent kindness is the highest gratitude since they bring us to this life. Keep in your mind this gratitude to repay is the first step on the Buddhist practice.
