Not the young people need to prepare for their lives but all of us, which any age, need to prepare for a better life in the present and future. The Buddha taught there are some things need to be done for a happy life.
Truthfulness, we need to be truthful in Buddhist practice in speech, deed, and thought. Drive yourself to the virtuous way you will gain happiness. Life likes boomerang, whatever you do will come back to you in the same way.
Self-controlling is another factor one needs to practice in the way of understanding and being your mind’s owner. Be mindful in every moment to recognize greed, hatred, and ignorance in your mind whenever they arise then you will know how to convince them, to let them out or remove them away.
Patience, one of the prominent manner that all practitioners need to subdue for the happiness of self and others. Be patient in Buddhism is not trying to handle or bear something that makes you uncomfortable or unwanted and annoying but the way to control your mind before these unwanted things, not to be angry but understand all and have proper attention to subdue your hatred, it’s called patience in Buddhism. This is not easy to do, you need to close to the wise one to learn more practice, your mind will be better.
Equanimity is the last factor mentioned here. Equanimity is a state that comes from giving what you can give including material things and non-material things. Doing giving to remove one’s selfishness, attachment to reach the noble ideal in the liberation way.
