Dharma Talk “The Four Matters Cause Our Suffering” – 91st Seven-Day Retreat
Update: 26/04/2019
In the morning of April 26th, 2019 (March 22nd, LC), Ven. Thich Nu Huong Nhu, the lecturer of Vietnam Buddhist Institute in HCMC, the abbot of Thien Quang temple, Binh Duong, had a Dharma Talk on the title of “The Four Matters Cause Our Suffering”.
In modern time the value of material things is what people care the most. We are often controlled by our desires lead to unmindfulness and disorder. Do we always look back to feel the peace inside or covered by anxiety and troubles? The Buddha said “He himself is the Buddha, sentient beings will be Buddha in future” means all living beings have Buddha-nature inside or they are pure by nature. We still roam here and there in the samsara and bear a lot of suffering caused by four matters: “Attachment, wrong thought, wrong view, and unable to forget”.
Controlled by these things how do we go back to our pure nature? For what methods you are following, nirvana is the final goal for us. The foundation of the practice is nothing but the five precepts, doing good things, giving up bad things, and dropping our wrong thoughts, wrong views, taking refuge in the Buddha, Dharma, Sangha for further practice and self-changing.
Practice these things we certainly gain peace and happiness in current life as well as sowing quality seeds for awakening later.
