Update: 28/12/2020
On Dec. 28th, 2020, (Nov. 15th, LC), Most Ven Thich Buu Chanh, Standing Member of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Deputy of Central culture and Dharma Promulgating Organization, Deputy cum Secretary General of Director Board in Dong Nai Province, Vice President of the Vietnam Buddhist University in HCMC, abbot of Phuoc Son monastery in Bien Hoa – Dong Nai had a talk named “When still breathing and living we still practice” to all participants in the 95th Seven-Day Retreat.
In order to gain a comfortable life, people are always busy in a hurry to search for something. Sometimes, one does not feel that they are still breathing or existing in the world. They are still breathing but refusing to cultivate (recite the Buddha's name), this one who is still alive is like a dead person. That dead one means a person who does not control his life, has no control over his body, mind and always lives in the darkness of suffering and inhibition. Over all, the monk talked about death in order to give rise to the meaning of living. If we know how to breathe or how to live, we will live a long life, eliminate defilements and attain enlightenment.
From the content of two sutras: the 10th Sutra of Satipatthanà in the Majjhima Nikaya and the 22nd Sutra of Mahàsatipatthana in Digha Nikaya, Most Ven analyzed the way of living mindfully, not depend on anything in this world. He gave useful advice to the mass. When remaining in life, we must still cultivate, this is a way to let go of the body, get rid of all defilements that are not worth attaching to and live comfortably and peacefully in this life.
