Retreat for Students
Discussion Night: “Cherishing the Flowers of Life” – Before the “One-Day Retreat” for Students.
Update: 18/10/2026
In celebration of Vietnamese Women’s Day (October 20th), a discussion night themed “Cherishing the Flowers of Life” attracted hundreds of students to the temple on the evening of Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026. This served as an opportunity for the younger generation to honor the roles, contributions, and beauty of Vietnamese women.
The event opened with a performance of the song “Chưa Bao Giờ Mẹ Kể” by the Hoang Phap Temple Youth Group, which deeply moved everyone present. Following this, Junior Ven. Thich Tam Bien—a monk from Hoang Phap Temple—delivered a talk on the theme “Cherishing the Flowers of Life.” His teachings encouraged listeners to reflect on how they express love, care, and kindness toward their loved ones in daily life.
Before entering the main discussion, singer Pham Ky performed a meaningful song, bringing a vibrant and refreshing atmosphere to all attendees.
The discussion addressed several key questions: Is love merely about self-sacrifice? When love creates distance, how can one care for others while also remembering to care for oneself? These inquiries were thought-provoking, directly challenging young people to reconsider how they define love in the modern era.
Finally, Junior Ven. Thich Tam Truong, Abbot of Hoang Phap Temple, offered spiritual guidance to help the youth cultivate a life rooted in love—through compassion and mindfulness in accordance with Buddhist teachings—and extend that love to those around them.
In particular, the Organizers presented 300 gifts to the female participants of the retreat in honor of Vietnamese Women’s Day (October 20th)—a gesture serving as both a warm wish and a reminder that every individual deserves to be loved, respected, and cherished.
