Holding Pravaranà Ceremony of the Director Board (DB) of Hoc Mon district's Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)

In the morning of Aug. 16th, 2024 (July 13h, LC), monks from Hoang Phap Pagoda gathered at Giac Nguyen Pagoda, the rain-retreat school of the DB of VBS in Hoc Mon District in the Pravaranà ceremony.

Besides the great Sangha’s peaceful-harmonious manifestation, this ritual also determines the growth of the Precepts-Concentration-Wisdom of a bhikkhu after ending the rain-Retreat, the monks will continue to propagate the dharma.

The Pravaranà rite in the Buddhist spirit is a monk respectfully asking for another monk to show his faults on the actions that were caused by his body, mouth and thoughts. When listening to criticism from the other is right, this monk will sincerely repent to be pure. As a result, the Sangha becomes perfect and deserves to be a field of blessings for the donors. After this ritual, the Bhikkhu added one year old of the rain retreat, meaning 1 year old of religion.

This is also an opportunity for lay Buddhists to make offerings to the Venerable Monks on the final day of the retreat.

With the witness of the great Sangha, Most, Senior, Junior and the support of devout Buddhists, the Pravaranà ceremony fulfills the perfect success and closes in the joys of participants.
