Update: 01/05/2018
In order to create convenience for Cambodian Buddhists in Cambodia to grow kindness and listen to Buddha Dharma, Cambodia’s Hoang Phap Pagoda held a one-day cultivation course on Sunday 29th, April 2018 (14th, Mar in Dog Year). Over two hundred Vietnamese in Cambodian people in the areas nearby gathered at the Pagoda.
Before reciting Buddha’s name, Buddhists gathered at the hall listening to Dharma talk. In this cultivation course, under the instruction of Senior Venerable and Abbot of Vietnam’s Hoang Phap Pagoda Thich Chan Tinh, Abbot Junior Venerable Thich Tam Huong (student of University Mahachulalongkom in Thailand) came up to the Pagoda and shared Dharma talk on the topic “Cultivation of mind and temper”.
“What is cultivation?”, asked the Abbot Most Venerable. He continued “Cultivation means to fix, and what should we fix? Fix our bad habits to become good, fix the evil into kindness, foolishness into wisedom, suffering into happiness, persistence to release, etc… Cultivation requires people to learn virtue of listening, be modest, be patient and make our disposition to be kind, stay away from greed, dispute, jealousy and selfishness.”
Furthermore, the Abbot Most Venerable explained about temperament cultivation, he said “What is temperament cultivation? That is the way keeping our temper mild, modest and gentle.”
After the Dharma talk, participants began to recite Buddha’s name.
