One day practice
Update: 05/06/2022
On June 5, 2022 (May 7th, LC), men and women Buddhists everywhere gathered at Hoang Phap pagoda to attend One-day Retreat.
After having breakfast, all Buddhists came to the lecture halls of the Dharma Wheel Building to begin reciting the Buddha's name, walking meditation and chanting the precepts.
Next, the practitioners listened to a Dharma talk from Junior Thich Tam Sy by the topic "Precepts relating to the life of lay people".
Everyone always wishes for a peaceful and happy life before a living full of events and changes. To ensure a peaceful life, we must obey ethical principles, such as: no killing creatures, no stealing, no sexual misconduct, no lying and no drinking. Those are five precepts of a Buddhist. By illustrated stories, and verses in the sutras, the monk analyzed each aspect, clearly seeing precepts related to the life of lay people.
Precepts are the foundation for good deeds, morality is the bright light of the world, a short way to the realm of gods and humans, a raft to cross the river of birth and death, precepts are related to us... ". Those who keep precepts will easily have a peaceful life; on the contrary, breaking these ones will sow the cause of suffering in the next life. Besides keeping precepts, we need to diligently create good doing (10 causes of good birth) in actions and speech, towards deliverance from the cycle of samsara.
After reciting the Buddha name in the afternoon, Buddhists practiced sitting meditation.
Before leaving, Buddhists received a gift of Dharma.
