One-Day Practice
Update: 06/10/2024
Good men and believing women everywhere gathered at Hoang Phap pagoda to attend One-day Practice on Sep. 08th, 2024.
After having breakfast, all Buddhists came to the lecture halls to begin reciting the Buddha name, walking meditation and chanting precepts.
After the ritual, all practitioners listened to a Dharma talk named The Meaning of One-day Practice preached by Senior Thich Duc Truong, Member of the Director Council of VBS, Deputy Secretary General and Chief of Office of Vietnam Buddhist Research Institute, Standing Member of Propagation Board of HCMC's VBS, Lecturer at Vietnam Buddhist University in HCMC.
Practicing the Buddha recitation, the practitioner concentrates on reciting His name so that three karmas of body, speech, and mind become pure; when three karmas are pure, wisdom increases, avoiding evil, doing good deeds: such as releasing creatures, giving alms, cultivating happiness for others, speaking the truth, encouraging others to do good. Thanks to the reciting Buddha's name, cultivators can transform past’s bad causes without having a chance to arise and form, helping to improve health, enhance the quality of current life so that we have more favorable conditions to create good causes for future lives, sowing Bodhi seeds in the Pure land.
The Senior encouraged the listeners to diligently recite the Buddha's name at all times and in all places so that the mind is well-memorized in His holy name; when the mind is directed toward the Buddha, it is clear, calm not controlled by delusions or anger, therefore there is no more worry or fear; all problems or desires in life are responded to by that merit, manifesting miraculous, unimaginable good results.
The dharma talk ended with the joy of the mass.
After reciting the Buddha name in the afternoon, Buddhists practiced sitting meditation quietly.
Before leaving the temple, Buddhists received book gifts.
