One-Day Practice

Update: 03/11/2024
Good men and believing women everywhere gathered at Hoang Phap pagoda to attend One-day Practice on Nov. 03rd, 2024.

One-Day Practice

After having breakfast, all Buddhists came to the lecture halls to begin reciting the Buddha name, walking meditation and chanting precepts.

After the ritual, all practitioners listened to a Dharma talk named "An endless treasure" preached by Junior Thich Chon Khanh, Monks of Duc Phu pagoda, Nha Be, HCMC.

Each of us inherently possesses a priceless treasure but we are always chasing after superficial benefits, and forget them. Fortunately, we encounter the Buddha's teachings and are guided by the Buddha, so we can receive and inherit our own treasure which is compassion. That is also the first foundation of studying and practicing Buddhism. Indeed, on the path to ultimate liberation, compassion will be a method to overcome the storms on the way.

Compassion is a vast, unattached and equal love, it is nurtured from love for the unhappy suffering of others; joy for the happiness and success of others. Compassion is expressed in words, attitudes, and actions which is shown through charity. In contrast to the worldly way of getting rich by accumulating, Buddhist disciples enrich their treasure by donating material things, energy, and wisdom to others along with rejoicing in the others' giving.

Complying with the Three Refuges and Five Precepts of Buddhism is the ultimate goodness that Buddhists should not consider it a ritual or tradition but should put it into practice in daily life; Practice returning to the calm, awareness and clarity of the mind, practice giving up and ending all harm and fear to others whether by body, mind or speech. Practitioners who observe and practice the Three Refuges and Five Precepts are already a great offering, a clear manifestation of compassion. When compassion grows strong and increases, practitioners will certainly receive unimaginable benefits, inheriting all their endless treasures without having to ask for anything from anyone else.

The monk helped the listeners understand compassion, how to practice and cultivate compassion, and the benefits that compassion brings. He reminded us that we must focus on keeping Five Precepts to nurture and develop compassion, and spread compassion to everyone, so that listeners will always be at peace under the support of Triple Gem in ten directions.

The dharma talk ended with the joy of the mass.

After reciting the Buddha name in the afternoon, Buddhists practiced sitting meditation quietly.

Before leaving the temple, Buddhists received book gifts.
