On Sep. 4th, 2016 (lunar Aug. 4th, monkey Year) thousands of Buddhists in all provinces gathered at Hoang Phap pagoda to attend the 7th course of one-day cultivation retreat in 2016.

After having breakfast, all Buddhists gatheredinlecture halls to listen a dharma talk from Junior Thich Tam An – abbot of Hung Phap pagoda - at Xuan Loc district, Dong Nai province,onthe theme “Overcoming suffering of losing relatives.”

In thisworld, human and everything alwayshave suchchange andtransform as birth – agedness – illness – death;birth – existence – change –destroying;establishment – existence – damage – nothing,whichare the unavoidable principles. Thus,thatchanges will create a new lifestyle for great development, achievesall dharma. However, how will we are when facing these ones in our life? Whether can we keep our calm mind? This is a matter that cultivators shouldhaveawareness.

The fact showsthat, although we are Buddhists whohavestudied Buddha dharma, have cultivated in long time, but when facing of losing our relatives, we will be fallen in the psychology of frightfulness, worry, terror, and that is a common one of all livingsin this life. It is the reason that Buddha taught usthree terriors in Anguttara Nikaya,includingthe fear of old age, illness and death. On this sutra, the Junior preached five things to remember to control all things in spite of any circumstances:

1. I couldn’t avoid my old age, so I will be old.

2. I couldn’t avoid my illness, so I will be ill.

3. I couldn’t avoid my death, so I will have to die.

4. All things as our satisfactions and pleasure will be changed.

5. We act good or bad deeds, and then we will receive our consequences, they are fetus, relatives, and fulcrum, etc, as a result, which ones we will do? Good or bad? We will receive its consquences.

The Junior also preached, according to viewpointof psychologists, when our relative passed away, we wouldspend five periods, such as of refusal, anger, negotiation, stress, acceptance.

Besides, there are four reasons leading the death of a human:fate ending,karma beginning, fate endingandkarma beginning, or a conditionwithoutside cause.

Thus, what must we activelydo when our relativeshavediedthat wedo not fallinthe state of scare, pain, disappointmen, etc; we arealso awareofovercomingthat circumstance. Itisa mater that he taughtimmediately to the mass by five viewpoints wheneven aBuddhist whohasstudied and cultivatedtheBuddha dharma:

1.Bravely showingthefeeling, butinright time, place.

2.Understanding the truth of impermanence.

3.Having right awareness ofHisteaching about causes and effects, karmas.

4.Knowing of creating merit, blessing for transferring to our realative.

5.Concept of the time being a medicine will help reduce suffering.

With the real stories and the story of the Buddha’slife, he analyzed detailsabout five things needed topractice lively. Everybody knows that the life is like a musical note and the last one is at cemetery. Therefore, we should live to follow the Buddha teachings which helps the present life being peaceful, happy; get active in our life, without falling ofpassivityand after the death they will be released. That is an achievement of the cultivating deal of each cultivator.

After the preaching, the mass began the meditation walking course of reciting Buddha name as usual.
