On Oct. 2nd , 2016 (lunar Sep. 2nd , Monkey Year) thousands of Buddhists in all provinces gathered at Hoang Phap pagoda to attend the 8th course of one-day cultivation retreat in 2016.
After having breakfast, all Buddhists gathered in lecture halls to listen a dharma talk from Junior Thich Tam Dao – Vice abbot of Hoang Phap pagoda – Vice chairman of the Cultivate Organization Board. More one hour of preaching, he had a speech to the mass “The Karma of Mouthâ€
Opening his teaching with the story to be quoted in the Sa Di Luat giai, he preached to the mass about the danger of evil karma caused by the mouth.
In this life, we must accept that there is one who says only one sentence, but everyone likes to listen, love, get emotions, as well as to be believed from public and their imitation. However, there is one who says many matters but they have no emotions, no believes, nor listening to them. So, we could recognize that saying is so important; it much affects in this life. Moreover, this is one of three karmas that the Buddha taught the cultivators to avoid it; it is the karma of mouth. Therefore, when we say out our words, we should rightly apply Buddha’s Dharma to avoid causing evil karmas, to receive the bad results of next lifes.
After his story, he definited in detail about the mouth’s karma, its bad and good causing karmas. Because of its essensiveness, at that time the Buddha preached from a Sutra, He reminded to His disciples about their mouth karma on the doctrines many times , such as, Five Precepts, Ten Good, Four Dharma of Heart Touching, and Eight Folder of Right Path.
By the stories written in the sutra, classic references, hictorical references of Buddhism together with the real ones, the Junior, in detail, analyzed the Buddha’s teachings about the mouth’s karma in His tenet system, such as, the 4thprecept of without saying wrong, Four Things of Mouth Karma in The Ten Good, Harmony Saying in the Four Dharma of Heart Touching, Right Saying in the Eight Folder of Right Path, as well as the Buddha’s teaching words in the “Mahopayaâ€, Agama, etc.
At last, he preached the benefits of cultivation, avoid mouth karmas:
- Being respected by people in the world.
- Being respected by Gods because of the words of right truth.
- Being clean of mouth.
Using melodious words to encourage beings.
- Three pure karmas being obtaining tranquility
- Saying is joyful, without anger.
- Saying is respected in obeyance.
- Transcendent wisdom.
Thus, the cultivators practice from Buddha’s teachings will have enough provision for our journey to enlightenment
At the end, the Junior talked to the propagation trip of the Senior Abbot of Hoang Phap Pagoda in the U.S. In spite of busy Buddhist affairs, by the boundless compassion, he always encourages the mass to cultivate. By the tetephones from the U.S, the Senior experiences special emotions, thoughtful compliments, and diligent, healthy wishes.
All of above, he hopes that the mass will be more diligent which deserves the Master’s heart who saves all his life for us, for the propagation career of beings’ benefit, declaring the Dharma.
After preaching, the mass began the course of Buddha’sname reciting as usual.
