One- day retreat at Hoang Phap Temple in Cambodia

With the desire to bring Buddhism to Vietnam Buddhists in Cambodia, the branch of Hoang Phap Pagoda in Cambodia continued to organize Buddhist recitation on Sunday, December 31st, 2017 (November 14th, Rooster Year). Hundreds of Vietnamese expatriates in Cambodia and people in the area returned to the pagoda to attend the retreat day.

With the topic "Hearing and practicing the Dharma", Junior Venerable Thich Tam Truc, the Abbot of Hoang Phap Cambodia has proven the meaningful story. In the Sutra, the Buddha taught four things:

1 / Listen, understand and practice.

2 / Listen, understand, but do not practice.

3 / Practice but do not understand.

4 / Listen but do not understand, do not practice.

When listening to the Dharma, some people listen a little, some people listen too much, some people understand and some people do not understand. It is important to understand and practice to ourselves in the present and future. Listening to the Buddha's Dharma, understanding and practicing properly make us peaceful and give us great benefits. If we understand but do not practice, we do not have any benefit for ourselves because we only understand to know, not do anything.

Master Khanh Anh taught: "Cultivation without learning is a blind cultivation. Learning without cultivation is only as a book". However, there is absolute nothing in life, but we must try to do as little or more. If we cultivate without practicing, we look like a sail without wind… When we do but do not know whether it is true or false, it is very dangerous. Studying and practicing look like the blind and the disabled. If two people combine together, they will travel easily. Therefore, our study must have both of these elements.

During this retreat, the pagoda was welcomed the Buddhists of Tieu Linh Dang coming from Vietnam, who offered Three Treasures, and practiced with the state of purity.

After the Dharma doctrine, the masses entered the period of elaborately practicing, reciting the Buddha’s name to partially find the peace and happiness in themselves that have been obscured by greed, hatred and delusion in this realm.

Although the material conditions were still in shortage, with the enthusiasm cultivation of expatriates as well as the enthusiasm of the monks, the retreat was successful.

At the end of the retreat, the Buddhists received the gifts of Dharma-treasure with the joy of everyone.
