One-day Retreat in September.
Update: 14/09/2015
On September 13th, 2015 (Lunar August 1st, Goat Year), all of Buddhists from all provinces returned at Hoang Phap Pagoda to join the One-day Retreat.
After having breakfast, Buddhists gathered the hall to listen to the Dharma talk from Jun. Venerable Thich Tam Dao, the vice of Hoang Phap Pagoda. For over an hour, he lectured the content and the meaning of a practicing which close to the Buddhists on the topic “The Merit of Almsgiving and Offeringâ€.
Almsgiving means giving, donating, presenting. Offering means giving but more respectful and reverent sense. Almsgiving and offering are good conditions to get big merit, which will lead us to the wealth and the prosperity in this life and the afterlife. This is the most basic practicing for all, especially for Buddhists.
The charity gets achievement. It brings us heavy benefit if the presents are pure and they made from the honest career and pure mind. The success in life of each person depends very much on the merit. There are many ways to get the merit, from which giving and offering are an effective way. A person who knows how to offer can get five retributions in the future such as: Life span, beauty, peace, naming and high promotion.
Here are two instances of the generosity:
- Giving for compensation and unwilling mind, waiting for good results in the future. This brings us small blessing and benefit which only attains in the Four Heavenly Kings heaven. We will return to this state after using all blessing.
-Giving without compensation and willing mind, not waiting for good results in the future. This brings us great blessing and benefit. At the end of the life, we are reborn in the Brahma world and get the enlightenment.
Respecting the Triratna is a great field of merit, the best blessing in the world. However, there are many people who disguised as monks, alms for a living, abusing the trust of fellow Buddhists to pursue personal interests. Therefore, Buddhists must be so wise in offering.
After the Dharma talk, the public entered the retreat as usual.
