Update: 21/04/2019
On April 21st, 2019 (March 17th, LC) Hoang Phap officially opened the 91st Seven-Day Retreat (from April 21st to 28th ), with the participating of 1.300 people.
As usual, the first day of the course the monk will give some training to participants, guide them the Buddhist poses for being the temple, show them the accommodation, the chanting hall, lecture hall… They also have to learn some rites which used during the practice time.
In the afternoon, there a short talk from Ven. Abbot Thich Chan Tinh via a clip from his retreat room. In this clip, he emphasized three important matters related to the practitioners, especially the Pure Land one.
1. We die following our karma
2. We change our karma before dying
3. Change our karma if being born as a hungry ghost
Among the three, we should choose the first case as a Pure Land practitioner. Following the Buddha’s words to do good karma, when we die, we follow our good karma. Keeping the Amitabha Buddha’s name in mind until we die to be born in the Pure Land. Making a clear plan for practice we will gain the final goal.
Then the vice abbot, Ven. Thich Tam Trong had some words concerned to the abbot retreat and gave some encouragement to all before taking the practice course.
