Opening the 92nd Seven-Day Retreat

On August 20th, 2019 (July 20th, LC), Hoang Phap continues the 92nd Seven-Day Retreat with over 1.600 devout Buddhist participants.
In the morning, the monks guide all people around and arrange their accommodation, then train them some postures that they will behave during the practice week such as palms putting together, bowing down, worshiping, food-offering, chanting rite…
In the afternoon, Ven. Abbot Thich Chan Tinh, the head of the organization had some words sent to them. People are eager to see him after over half-year of taking a retreat for Nikaya reading.
People all know Hoang Phap temple follows the Mahayana tradition, so hearing him taking the retreat for reading the Theravada Nikaya, they arise a lot of doubt and questions. Now he makes a summary on the Mahayana and Theravada Buddhist History to make clear the identities and differences between the two traditions. The monk robes, sutras or the way of taking practice may be different but they have the same goal of liberation from the samsara. He emphasizes self-effort is the most important things, not which tradition should we follow or criticize. Without learning Dharma we easily take the wrong view. Then he conceals his vow after finish Nikaya reading is changing Hoang Phap to a Budhdist central practice which integrating the three popular Buddhist ways of practice: Zen, Pure land, and Tantric Buddhism.
