Penitent ceremony on Jun 08, 2017
Update: 09/06/2017
In the evening of June 08, 2017 (May 14, lunar calendar), devout Buddhists from HCMC and other regions came to Hoang Phap pagoda to attend the regular penitent ceremony.
During the ceremony, Venerable Thich Tam Hong, monk from Hoang Phap Pagoda, delivered the Dharma talk with the topic: "Who is our most favorite?" that was the noticeable subject for the mass and everyone. There were many outcomes as parent, spouse or children, ... for this question. Nevertheless, deep inside, they might derive from the selfishness, i.e. we loved the ego instead of others.
Things happen in this world due to compounded conditions, subject to impermanence with the cycle of appearance-growth-spoilage-disappearance, including human beings. If we keep clinging to our body and mind, misunderstanding that they were permanent then we may create a lot of evils to serve and please this body. Such activities drive us to the endless sufferings in the six paths of samsara. If one knows how to drop the ego, the self, then all suffering will end accordingly. How come? Buddha teaches us a very practical motto: "This is neither me, myself, nor mine". This is a magic mantra that can help us coping with situations of suffering and loss in this world.
When practicing the selflessness, we can gain benefits as following:
1. Promoting morality
2. Promoting the ability of tolerance and self-control.
3. Promoting the selflessness and creating immeasurable merits.
4. The practice of selflessness leads us to happiness here and now.
