Praying Ceremony for the Construction of Multi-Functioned Building at Hoang Phap Pagoda
Update: 11/02/2017
Today Feb 11, 2017 (Jan 15, lunar calendar), Senior Venerable Thich Chan Tinh, monks and Buddhists at Hoang Phap pagoda together pray for the construction of the multi-functioned building before starting the project.
Dharmadutha for the benefits of sentient beings is the divine duty and responsibility of all Buddhists. Nevertheless, it is necessary to have proper material means to carry out things effectively. In order to help aspirants study Dharma and inspire their thought of practicing, it is necessary for the pagoda to have good infrastructure as well as accommodation and proper facilities to serve the mass. Therefore, building up the pagoda and ashram are the vital activities that can generate innumerable merits.
In Buddha's time, the task building up pagoda and ashram belonged to lay Buddhist devotees who could afford the construction of auditoriums and viharas to serve the sangha and Buddhists. Gradually, out of the compassion to sentient beings, the clergymen would like to strengthen Dharma preaching, hence they actively stand out building up pagodas and monasteries under the collective supports of sponsors. Therefore, besides mastering Dharma knowledge and practice, the renunciants need to build up infrastructures and facilities for the sake of Dharma preaching.
From this point of view, for years, the Senior Venerable Abbot and sangha of Hoang Phap pagoda have always tried their best to establish permanent construction projects as well as designed kinds of practicing courses to meet the various needs of Buddhists as practicing courses for the Youth, student, elderly and kid with numerous participants per course. As a result, the pagoda needs to have a multi-functioned building for various activities as the auditorium, dining room, guest rooms and so on to serve retreat participants. In early 2017, the construction will officially start. This project is also the aspiration of the Senior Venerable Abbot and the whole sangha. It is necessary to have the kind supports of individuals and organizations so that the construction can fulfill at best.
After offering incense to pay homage to Buddha and chanting rite, the sangha and Buddhists recite Buddha’s name while walking around the construction field. After that, The Venerable Abbot opens the donation for the building construction with his offering, then follow the monks and Buddhists. All have the same wish for the best fulfillment of the project.
