On the morning of Feb. 06th, 2023, Most Ven Thich Chan Tinh had a Dharma lecture at Giai Lam pagoda (belonging to Hoang Phap pagoda sect) in Tan Lam, Thach Ha, Ha Tinh province.
Before listening to the dharma talk preached by the Most Ven, Junior Thich Tam Luc and Buddhists prostrated, and then offered their longevity greetings to the Most Master.
The monks must remember the guideline: first, to seek bodhi awakening; next, to save all beings. A cultivator is to leave his family, parents, spouse, and children to devote himself to serving Buddhadharma, sentient beings, and fulfilling his ideals for life. First, to seek bodhi awakening is to practice diligently, towards enlightenment and deliverance; Next, to save all beings, he must practice to have peace and happiness in order to spread the energy of peace to others.
The monks must perform the spirit of promoting the Dharma first, because that is the responsibility of the Tathagata’s Messengers. The cultivators should learn the example of Arahat Purna, engage in difficult places where residents have not yet approached the Buddha's teachings in order to spread the dharma, and bring peace to sentient beings, it's the basic thoughts of a true practitioner. A religious master must have practice, keep precepts, and live an ethical life to be able to encourage others.
The temple helps to rely on spirituality, which is the spiritual property of Buddhism disciples. The Sangha is a pure harmony for only 4 people or more, not reserved for a single individual. The monks are representatives of the Sangha who reside to practice, look after places of temple, and guide Buddhists. When a monk is out of conditions at the temple, another monk will replace, and undertake. People may be wrong, but the dharma is not, if an individual does wrong, that one will bear its consequences. We should not lose faith in Three Jewels because of a wrongdoer or any group causing us to step back from the bodhicitta.
At Giai Lam Pagoda in the afternoon, Most Ven Thich Chan Tinh Tinh had a session to transmit five precepts for good men and women to take refuge in the Three Jewels.
Gathering in the main hall, the disciples were thoroughly explained about the purpose, meaning of Three Refuges - Five Precepts, and necessary issues for Buddhists. The precept transmission ceremony officially took place under the witness of the temple’s monks.
Due to ignorance and confusion, no one can avoid mistakes, and sins from numberless eons in the six realms. Therefore, we need to recognize our mistakes, and vow not to repeat them. By the way, the Most Ven has helped the precepts’ receivers to repent so that their three karma can be purified before officially becoming a Buddhist. On behalf of the monks present, Most Thich Chan Tinh transmitted Three Refuges - Five Precepts to the followers. Next, the Most Ven taught and encouraged new Buddhists on the ethics path: Buddhists should regularly go to the temple to study the Dharma, keep five precepts, be a vegetarian, and create good karma to have peace in this life and the next life.
The ceremony of taking refuge in the Three Jewels was completely accomplished in the joy of the mass.
