Regular Penitence on Nov 17, 2017

On November 17, 2017 (Sep 29, lunar calendar), devout Buddhists came to Hoang Phap Pagoda for regular repentant ceremony.

Before the penitent rite, it was the Dharma talk from Venerable Thich Tam Hung, Abbot of Quoc Thoi pagoda, Ben Tre province, on the topic: Right View for Practicing.

Faith is the source of merit. Lack of belief, it is difficult for practitioner to get Attainment. With simple stories and examples in daily life, he has skillfully directed people from false to right understanding. People should believe in cause and effect rule that governs all things from secular issues to practicing. It is not necessary for us to search in any remote place or impractical theory for the right belief. It is available in close, simple and understandable events in daily life. From that point of view, we can learn and change our mind from canker to nobleness, from mediocrity to sage. In addition, we should try the best and be self-confident because the seeds of purity, harmony and compassion are existing within each of us. Based on that, we can aspire the thought of enlightenment via diligent cultivation. We, Buddhists, should have right view that can help leading us to Attainment and happiness.

After the Dharma talk, the course kept on its schedule with repentant rite and precept restatement as usual.
