Repentance ceremony on Aug. 30th, Year of the Tiger

Before the rite, Junior Thich Tam Dieu had a dharma talk to the mass.

Each of us comes to Buddhism by many different causes and conditions. In fact, for whatever reason, it's still two aspects: Knowledge and belief. Therefore, people who study and practice the dharma need to have correct faith in the Three Jewels (Buddha, Dharma, Sangha). From here, the Lecturer pointed out the gradual process of a cultivator, in which taking refuge in the Three Jewels is an essential cause for becoming a disciple of the Buddha and explaining clearly about taking refuge in the Buddha. From taking refuge in the Buddha to reciting the Buddha's name, it will remind the self-nature of Amitabha in the mind, as well as the practice of Buddhist disciples by four things: Faith, acceptance, service, and practice.

No matter which method we choose, we will all refer to a pure, undefiled Pure Land which is the purification of three karma of body, speech, and mind. By this, he talked about Amitabha Pure Land with its pure environment; pure life; pure economy; pure practitioners; pure body and mind and the elements of the age for the Pure Land.

After the dharma talk, the mass started the penitential ceremony as usual.
